Congratulations to Victoria Tsiaras, the November 2020 winner of the Frank Reid Prize!
The Frank Reid Prize is presented each convocation to the top graduating student or students.
Victoria completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto in Employee Relations and Criminology. In the MIRHR program, she says, “I realized that my love for criminology and all things legal could be coupled with my passion for human resources and working relationships.”
In the MIRHR program, Victoria also found a passion for labour relations. She is now working in Labour Relations with the Ontario Public Service, work she says brings her great joy. “Everyone deserves to have a positive and enriching experience when they arrive at work each day. It’s fostering these positive employer-employee relationships that is the most important and most rewarding for myself.”
Like all of the MIRHRs graduating on November 21st, Victoria began the program in its usual in-person format. Despite the changes and challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Victoria says “When I look back at my time in the program, remembering the days when the Centre was full of students working on projects and assignments, I always find myself with a smile on my face.”
“No matter what, we were all there for one another, cultivating success for not only ourselves, but for our classmates as well.”
As Victoria marks the end of her Master’s studies, she has advice for future students and those beginning the program now: “Embrace every aspect of the CIRHR.”
“Take advantage of your professors’ expertise, as they are more than willing to share their experiences and knowledge with their students. Don’t be afraid to lean on the administration, library staff, and your fellow classmates for advice and guidance. The program is filled with individuals with different life, education, and work experiences, [and] you will learn a multitude of valuable lessons.”
“The program goes by in the blink of an eye, so enjoy it while you can and be proud of yourself for achieving this much so far!”
The Frank Reid Prize will be awarded again in June.
