One of the priorities of the Centre is to provide MIRHR students with the best resources to assist them in finding great jobs. We supplement the services of the UofT Career Centre by providing the following:
Career Information and Networking
Employer presentations, alumni workshops, and an annual Careers Day event provide opportunities for students to learn about the value of the MIRHR degree in the job market, and present practical tips on developing networking skills and maximizing job search strategies. A mentorship program is also available to full-time MIRHR students.
The Centre’s Library helps students to do the research that is so important in preparing for job interviews. Information is available about developments in the profession, salary levels for HR/IR professionals, and background on companies, industries or unions.
In addition to events sponsored by the Centre, MIRHR students can and attend conferences presented by Lancaster House. Toronto is home to other professional organizations such as the Human Resources Professional Association (HRPA).
Career Development Seminar
The Career Development Seminar is designed to prepare you to succeed in your job search and in the workplace. Through discussion, practice and using expert panels and guest speakers, you will learn to think strategically about your career and the steps to accomplish your goals. Topics include personal brand, resumes and cover letters, online presence and career success.
LinkedIn Profiles and Job Postings
The Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources maintains a job posting site through LinkedIn for its current students and recent grads that also provides career tips and links to valuable resources.
