12-month MIRHR

Supplemental Information for the 12-month MIRHR advanced standing option

This information applies to students completing one of the following undergraduate programs in the Faculty of Arts and Science, UofT:

  • HR Certificate Program (AS CHRM)
  • Industrial Relations and Human Resources Specialist/Major (ASSPE1536, ASMAJ1536)
  • Work and Organization: Humanities, Science or Social Science Major (ASMAJ1532, 1533, 1534)

Applicants are advised to present the following courses when applying to the 12-month MIRHR advanced standing option:

  • IRE242H1 HRM for Industrial Relations and HR Professionals
  • IRE244H1 Labour Relations 
  • IRE260H1 Organizational Behaviour

Insufficient IRE Background:  
If the admissions committee determines that an applicant does not have sufficient academic training to qualify for advanced standing, the student will be automatically considered for the two-year MIRHR degree.

Attention Work and Organizations Students:

  • Science and Humanities Stream:  IRE242H1 and IRE244H1 are not part of the Work and Organization Science or Humanities majors.   You may enrol in IRE242H1 and IRE244H1 but these courses will not count towards fulfilling the requirements of the Science or Humanities streams. No exceptions will be made.
     
  • Social Science Stream:  IRE242H1 and IRE244H1 are listed as electives in the Work and Organization Social Science major.  However, there is a limit to the number of IRE electives that will count towards the major (1.5 credits of electives must chosen from a group of courses, of which at least 1.0 credit must be at the 300- or 400-level and no more than 0.5 credit can be from IRE courses).  You may enrol in IRE242H1 and IRE244H1 but only 0.5 IRE course will count towards the electives in the Social Science stream.  No exceptions will be made to this requirement.
