Congratulations to CIRHR Visiting Professor Daphne Taras, who has been appointed dean of the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University! Professor Taras comes to Ryerson from the University of Saskatchewan, where she was dean of the Edwards School of Business from 2010 to 2016 and, before that, the University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business, where she was associate dean of research and director of the PhD program.
Professor Taras has been active at the intersection of labour relations, public policy and law, with a particular interest is in bringing multiple disciplines together on important labour market and workplace issues. She has mediated labour disputes, facilitated union-management committees, and provided training in conflict resolution, and was expert advisor to the federal commission on employment standards, a member of the Saskatchewan Minister of Labour’s advisory council, and chair of the Educational Relations Board of Saskatchewan.
Prior to coming to the CIRHR as Visiting Professor, Professor Taras also delivered the keynote, "Industrial Relations Matters: The Relevance of Human Resources and Labour Relations for the 21st Century World of Work" at the Centre's 50th anniversary celebration in 2016. She will begin her appointment as dean, Ted Rogers School of Management on July 1st
