We’re very happy to announce that 4th-year undergraduate students, Noelle Taylor and Sophie Wilkin, are the two inaugural recipients of the Dr. Sergiy and Tetyana Kryvoruchko Undergraduate Award in Human Resources, which is awarded to full-time undergraduate students in the Specialist/Major Industrial Relations & Human Resource Management Program on the basis of academic merit.
“Receiving this award is a great honour,” Sophie tells us. “I am grateful to be part of such an outstanding program, which has provided me with a strong foundation as I prepare to begin my Master's studies at the London School of Economics this autumn. This recognition from the Kryvoruchkos and the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources inspires me to further my learning and growth in the field of IRHR, and I am deeply appreciative for their support.”
Noelle, too, tells us that the award is “a tremendous honour that reflects my passion and dedication to Industrial Relations and Human Resources (IRHR). Throughout my four years at the University of Toronto, I immersed myself in negotiations, employee relations, and strategic HR planning, guided by inspiring professors at the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources.”
She shared with us that this award also holds deep, personal significance, as she overcame significant health challenges in her third year of studies, including a “Thoracic Outlet Syndrome diagnosis, two surgeries, and countless doctor appointments,” all while maintaining her academic performance and commitment to HR.
“With the unwavering support of my family, friends, and professors,” she says, “I persevered and continued to pursue my goal of becoming a leader in strategic HR business units. As I prepare to pursue a Master’s in IRHR in the fall, this award reaffirms my commitment to shaping organizations with engaged workforces and strong leadership. I am sincerely grateful for this honour and am confident that it will propel my studies and future career in the IRHR field.”
The Dr. Sergiy and Tetyana Kryvoruchko Undergraduate Award in Human Resources has been made possible thanks to a very generous donation by Dr. Sergiy and Tetyana Kryvoruchko who have made significant contributions to several areas within the Faculty of Arts & Science including the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources.
We extend our congratulations to Sophie and Noelle, as well as our deepest gratitude to the Kryvoruchkos for their generosity to the Centre and the broader U of T community as a whole.
